LED Light Source for Retail and Commercial Spaces

Everywhere we go, we see lots of retail shops. And most of these retail shops and boutiques use traditional Metal Halide Lamps which consume at least 200W of energy. Imagine each of these lamps being lit for at least 10 hours a day... imagine the number of carbon emissions it is creating. There must be a low carbon alternative!

DahomX was created by DAHOM to address the need to replace the numerous metal halide lamps used in retail and commercial space lighting. These lighting applications require the light source to deliver high luminosity and excellent color rendering to make the merchandise look good.

DahomX utilizes Xicato XSM Artist Series LED modules, which provide the best color rendering in its class with a CRI of 95. Despite using only 35W, it produces a light output of 3000 lumens. The attractively designed light fixture is minimalistic, allowing it to blend seamlessly into any retail environment. Its powder-coated aluminum body gives it a professional look and houses the electronic driver, fitting it nicely into any track railing. It is available in white, grey, or black finishing, with the option for special colors upon request.

In addition to saving energy and achieving aesthetic appeal, DahomX is also a low carbon lighting solution. It significantly reduces carbon emissions compared to traditional metal halide lamps.

DahomX is designed specifically to work with Xicato's XSM Artist Series LED Modules, which deliver a possible CRI of 95. This cutting-edge LED technology makes it the ideal replacement for metal halide lamps.

Location and Timeframe: The project started in May 2012 in Xiamen City, China.

Research: After extensive research into LED modules, Dahom selected Xicato's XSM Artist Series LED Modules for their ability to produce a CRI of up to 95 while only requiring 35W of energy to deliver 3000 lumens of light output. This makes them a perfect replacement for metal halide lamps, resulting in lower carbon emissions.

Design Challenges: The main challenge was to create a low carbon LED replacement for metal halide lamps that could meet the demands of retail and commercial lighting applications.

Design Notes: DahomX was created to replace the numerous metal halide lamps used in retail and commercial spaces. It utilizes Xicato XSM Artist Series LED modules, which provide the best color rendering in its class with a CRI of 95, using only 35W to produce 3000 lumens of light output.

Awards and Accolades: This design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2013. The Iron A' Design Award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. It is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and contributing to a better world.
